7 Perfect Things I Thrifted Lately

A little strange, a little stunning. Also HI from winter break❤️

It’s winter break this week, which means 1) I have a 6-year-old within a few feet of me like, well, ALL day long. And 2) We are in West Palm Beach, FL, visiting my mom aka: Raffi’s BFF + only remaining grandparent, and let me tell you friends, she carries this mantle like an absolute ROCK STAR (I should really have some merch made for her).

At the airport eating a croissant awaiting our flight. Very grateful to report our plane landed safely (I hope yours do, too).

All that said, for the past two hours, I’ve been squirreled away in the clubhouse of my mom’s little cove listening to Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love” piping over the yacht rock speakers (mind you, this is 100% not a bad thing). OKAY, twist my arm, here’s the original video (ATA bonus vintage 👑) from 1986, notable mostly for big blazers, a brown tie, a duet with Chaka Kahn (her dress is very Simone Rocha)…AND…

Nile Rodgers! No, I did not know that this video I’ve literally not laid eyes on since I was in 11th grade, features a bonus appearance by my musical soulmate Mr. Nile Rodgers playing guitar (I love you Nile❤️). In the interest of tangents, here’s my favorite NR song (might even be in my top five songs of this lifetime), a song that also famously makes a bit of a creepy appearance in Steve McQueen’s film Shame, remember? Which does not at all make me love it less. Okay, really getting off-topic now, sorry! Building this newsletter whilst listening to ‘80s soft rock makes me do it…

KK, on with the show…since I’m back here in the thrifting capital of the country (while we still have a country 😔), I’m also sharing a few things I found yesterday, but the bulk of my finds I’ll share in the next roundup coming soon. Love you all so much…let’s get into it.
