A Mess of Cool June Things

A Mess of Cool June Things

Archival fabric remnants, David Lynch's coffee table, a new hotel I must wake up in, THE summer necklace made from recycled gems, and everything else that made the feel-good cut.

Today’s post is a total delight bomb that might get cut off, so maybe click thru to your Substack app to read it in full. The paywall isn’t too far up, but if you’re a free subscriber and have been considering the jump to Paid, today could be the day:). As always, all ATA subscriber support makes our Tiny universe possible, and for that, I’m so very grateful❤️.

Hi gang…first off, we had our first legit shoot at the cabin for our friends over at Kassatex. The wonderful Belle Morizio photographed the bedrooms while my friend Pik Yee Berwick helped me with styling. It was pretty much a dream come true seeing the photos on her laptop for the first time as we started shooting…still can’t believe we built this thing. More photos/cabin updates coming soon, but I wanted you to be the first to see how it’s shaping up. Until then, enjoy this mélange of cool things I’m loving right now, and maybe you will, too. Much ❤️…xxCb

An older Rachel Comey dress over pants…my unofficial summer uniform. The hat is Kassatex.

An upcoming auction of David Lynch’s beautiful things.

There are many reasons to love and miss David Lynch, and if you loved him and his philosophies—both cinematic AND spiritual—as much as I do, you will also love taking a journey through his worldly possessions (which, as a devoted meditation person, he probably didn’t care nearly as much about as we do), set to go up for auction at Julien’s on June 18 7 a.m.EST/10 a.m.PST. I looked through the whole catalog of 441 items, and it brought me back to the day I spent 12 straight hours watching the Joan Didion auction at Stair (I won a trio of her art books). Here are a few of DL’s things I’m intrigued by the most…

2007 film production slate.

Sheets of handwritten art notes.

David Lynch-designed end/coffee table.

I love these hats so much. I really only need/WANT one, but it would be fun figuring out what to do with the rest of them. Also, I remember a long, long time ago, Lynch did the Proust Questionnaire in Vanity Fair, and talked about eating a tuna sandwich everyday for lunch, and how the routine gave him freedom to be wild in everything else. I loved that…here’s the gist.

Tatter Blue Library is having a fabric scrap sale!

If you’re local in Brooklyn in a few weeks, make sure to mark your calendar June 19-22 for the Tatter Textile Library’s annual Scraptacular fabric scrap sale and library fundraiser. I am definitely signing up for the ticketed presale auction on Thursday night because…scraps! Up for grabs will be historical fabrics, quilt blocks, some vintage clothing, and other charming remnants of God Knows What from around the globe. Brilliantly, they also offer donation tiers online where those who aren’t local can receive gifts of fabric scraps and patterns in the mail!…everyone wins❤️.

I like this new necklace by Completedworks a lot.
