With our new logo, and a tiny book coming, too, some timely info about your ATA subscription, as well as a few reminders of what home + YOU mean to me.
The updates and details on the cabin were some of my favorite newsletters, so with the dr office renovation starting and if he’s up for it, I’d love an in-depth interview between you and your husband focusing on your collaboration on these renovations/your homes, how your skills, knowledge and aesthetics overlap and diverge and maybe even clash (?), what aspects of design you’ve gotten more or less interested in over your lives and careers and what influenced those, how becoming/being parents has influenced any style choices and priorities, and pretty much anything else you can think of. I know I’d love to read that!
When I moved into my first tiny apartment on Cornelia Street in the 70s, my boyfriend said, "we're going to think of this place as if we were set decorators - we'll make stuff out of whatever we have and if we don't have furniture, we'll paint it on the walls."
Even though I can afford furniture now, I still love that attitude and I find it in your newsletter - that a home, a life, should be creative, unique and FUN. Thank you so much for being so alive!
Love this! I also love how "BEGIN AGAIN" can easily be switched/perceived as BEING, AGAIN. It's not about what we do, it's about who we are, who we've always been, and who we grow into. You've always had a Tiny Apartment in you, even before you started it. Can't wait to see what's next (you it, for you...). Xx
Love the new logo, the thrifting guide, and can’t wait to see what you do with the doctor’s office. I am sure it will be stylish and amazing just like you!
I would love to see regular tiny apartment tours! I just love them! My Pinterest and Instagram saves are full with them. They’re as satisfying as avocado oil ripple potato chips!😂
LOVE the new logo! And have been loving the evolution of ATA since I first came across it. It's got all the things I love. The original Working Title for my new novel used to be "Where You Begin," which was both about starting over at any time but also about the connections we have and make between us--where you end, I begin. Some found the title too generic or unspecific, so it has been renamed, but the sentiment is still part of the ethos of my book. And like, life.
Speaking of connections...it was so wonderful to meet some fellow ATAers at your recent sale and I don't think I can swing the trip to Brimfield this time around (though I'm desperate to go another time)...this isn't a writing idea, but would you consider hosting a meet up? Something casual or something more programmed with a topic to discuss and share. Despite living in the city, I work and write from home so am feeling more isolated here and would love to connect with other women of all ages.
I second (third, fourth?) the interest in riding along the reno of the doctor's office.
I can't wait to get my thrifty little hands on ATA's first publication!!!
I love the idea of a meet-up. Maybe we can do it at my apartment?? A small group is a great group! Also thank you for being on this journey from the start Sherri...we will have so many more gatherings to connect to come (I hope!). xx
It looks AMAZING. so lovely to get an insight into the design process for the new look. ATA is hands down my favourite Substack. You’ve built something really special here, Christene 💚
Your creativity and enthusiasm bring so much energy to all you do. I adore it!
Esp love patterns, function, texture, history, progression, focus on fashion bits, personal anecdotes, age-stuff, space and time-savers, and silliness!
Cannot WAIT for the doctor's office reno!!!
