Last week something really cool happened—we crossed the 200th edition of A Tiny Apt. Yup. Since we started this in February of 2022, we’ve shared 200 newsletters together—a series of weekly (im)perfect little packages that bring together all the stuff I/we love the most—good, clever design, living expansively (despite square footage or anything else!), and, in general, cherishing this fascinating/weird/wonderful journey of discovering our style together.

Magic hour @ A Tiny Apt.🌟

(Most of you know this already, but on this little anniversary occasion, it’s worth repeating.) A Tiny Apt. is a lot about that sweet-spot/intersection between space + style. But—and I say this a lot:)—it’s about change, too. Mostly, because I’ve learned that it’s within those changes and that ability to flex, adapt, SHAPE-SHIFT through restrictions or obstacles that we are able to see what it is we really want…AND, honestly, what we actually like, too. And, I think that’s how our style, our taste, our desires take shape—by solving problems like (elegantly) downsizing your whole life into two rooms or upsizing your wardrobe mojo by getting rid of all the old stuff you’ve outgrown.

And then wondering or perhaps even saying OUT LOUD…What now?

I love that this newsletter has become a place to explore that what now? together. What do we do next? How do we make the most of what we have and also collecting new parts of ourselves…and this style that is continuously expanding + being born. This weekly conversation w/you around intentional design and the genuine character/distinction of things is sacred to me. And, I hope in some small way, it is for you, too.

Another fun thing: Substack added a handy feature in the app where you can see a list of the bestsellers in a particular category. Well, together we made the Top 10 in Design. WE DID THAT!! Because A Tiny Apt. wouldn’t be this little world unto its own w/out ALL of you to share in it every week. Can I get a fu**&^%$$$ yesssssss!✨

#10…we did that!

There’s so much more I want to build w/u here. In particular, sharing more of YOUR worlds, too. IE: A few of you have sent me cool vintage/second-hand things you want to sell, so how about we host a little ATA Vintage/Second-Hand Marketplace in an upcoming newsletter? If you have something in mind, shoot me an email with stats/photos to hi@atinyapt.com. Also, last week’s debut of our “Tiny Tour” column was a big success! We have more Tiny Tours in the works already, and I thought it could be cool to share some of your favorite rooms, too. So, if you’ve got a tiny room/spot/corner or just a special perch you love most in your home, I’d love to see it for possible inclusion in an upcoming edition of ATA. Share your pics w/me again at hi@atinyapt.com. (PS: Lovely people share their street finds w/me often, too, so if there’s something special you found, like our friend Britt below, that you want me to share here, send it my way!).

My new friend Britt texted me on Instagram about finding this filing cabinet in the trash near her house, and I immediately wanted to see it cozy in its new home...another happy ending:)

Last two things here before we get into it: Thanks to everyone (nearly 200 of you!!) for attending my very first Substack LIVE yesterday about all things $$$ + wealth with my dear friend Amina AlTai (pre-order her new book here!), here’s a clip, and I’ll be sharing the full recording of our conversation here soon.

Also, so many of you commented to be in the running last week for the two gifted pairs of M.Gemi Una ballet flats. The two winners selected by the brand (at random) were subscribers Deborah and Kelly (congrats you two!!).

The M.Gemi Una flats we gifted to two ATA subscribers. Rug is by Revival and tote is Bags In Progress.

We’ll have many more giveaways to come, so if you’ve been considering upgrading, why not give it a whirl?

This week’s thrifty mix is one-part vintage finds and one-part FREE finds from the sidewalk (because, well, I honestly cannot make this stuff up). Okay, now…onnnnnn w/the SHOW. xxCb

The LIGHT—Pendant or floor lamp, didn’t know/didn’t care. It was just too beautiful to end up in the trash, FREE.

As if a miracle from heaven, there were TWO of these vintage brass Stilnovo-style pendant/floor lamps on the sidewalk one evening when I was taking a pre-bedtime stroll early last month (it was still freaking cold out!). I only took one, because both were in incredible condition and I really wanted someone else to be delighted by such a free trash

find, too. Below, something similar on 1st Dibs…damn!
