Over the past six months I’ve definitely been thrifting less. You probably haven’t even noticed because to the average sane person, even at a significantly scaled back rate, I still probably thrift more than most people. I mean, I will not bore you with 1) all the remaining To Do’s we have coming up on our straw-panel cabin upstate (that’s what my sister is for!); or 2) sharing how preoccupied and STRESSED TF out I am/most of us are re: the election in exactly a week (I voted early and maybe you did, too (you RULE 👑).
I thrifted this vintage High-Tech Industrial Style book from my friend Rebecca’s basement. She said I could. I swear I didn’t steal it 😬.
Hence, to assuage my election sleeplessness + slight hair loss, I’ve been medicating myself in thrift stores. An estate sale or two. My friend’s basement. Another friend’s attic. To be clear, in this latest edition of Everything I Thrifted, I never once asked myself if I “needed something” or “will I actually use this fish-shaped Jello mold?”
Nope. If I saw it and I liked it—I bought it.
In the last few months, I’ve shopped by my wits and also my cuckoo carnal desires—indulging the vintage track-pant-hoarding beast within me, the lady who cannot/will not deny herself a $3 Walter Von Nessen-style vintage lamp, that isn’t really Walter Von Nessen, but that’s totally not the point. The point is it’s COOL af and it cost less than a coffee!
So, basically, today’s A Tiny Apt. is five minutes of sweet relief…a remedy for what ails you, whatever that ailing may be. Whether it’s election anxiety or facing the fact that Somebody Somewhere is in its final season (😔). Right here/right now is about pleasure and beauty and the hope that no matter how uncertain things may be, there’s pretty much always an Old Céline-inspired vintage handbag lurking around that can get you back on track. And, whether it’s phone banking, thrifting, or cooking pasta e ceci—do what you must to get through this particular Hallway of History. And remember I love and appreciate you! And Please Vote! Two quick FANTASTIC things before we dive into this edition of Tiny Thrifting Nirvana…
A new ATA playlist is LIVE…
It’s called Doorways—just press PLAY ⬇️—and I’ve spent the last month listening to it and tweaking it for this very week we are living in RIGHT NOW. I hope you love it, and by all means share it far and wide✨.
A brilliant new TOOL for second-hand collectors/hunters like us!…
I had the pleasure of meeting Phoebe Gates a few weeks ago (a fellow subscriber to A Tiny Apt.😎:) to hear about her new second-hand search tool called Phia. With her co-founder Sophi Kianni, the two have spent the last few years researching and developing this browser extension for Chrome that allows users to be their MOST resourceful + savvy by searching from 150+ resale partners for solid second-hand options to something we want to buy (ie: I NEED this new Balenciaga blazer, is there a vintage/second-hand option available before I buy it new?). Even though Phia won’t be fully up and operating until early 2025, Phoebe shared the Beta link with us—the savviest searchers that we are—so we can explore how the technology works in its early form, peruse across their partner sites, and perhaps join their Beta community. Check it out and let us know what you think…🎯
Okay, enough chit-chat…LET’S GET INTO IT…xxCb
Mini modernist table lamp, $3. Everyone needs a little warm, cozy light like this in their kitchen or work space, especially now that the mornings are so ‘effin dark. This one is a random vintage office brand, but I found this similar one for just $12 that looks pretty similar.
Vintage cotton ‘80s (maybe ‘70s or ‘90s??) track pants, $6. Legit, the coolest most tailored track pants I’ve ever encountered (I sent them to a designer friend in the hopes she will create her own version of them). Bonus: They look great layered with a chunky sweater and a tulle dress…cuz, YES.
11 more glorious thrifted things after the jump, including the $22 vintage leather handbag I am certain Cate Blanchett carries, and the sick 2-sided $5 painting…and hey, if you’ve been thinking about becoming a Paid subscriber to A Tiny Apt., c’mon and join us…❤️
